Another Precursor of a Strengthening La Nina--Or Something Else?

I’ve moved to WordPress.  This post can now be found at Another Precursor of a Strengthening La Nina–Or Something Else?

The CPC updated their subsurface equatorial animation page. It had contained a few blank graphics in the past few weeks.

Click on the above link in the event the following .gif doesn’t post well.
In the January 3, 2009 graphic, the cross-section below the East equatorial Pacific contains some pockets with anomalies as low as -6 deg C, and they appear to be rising to the surface.
BUT
Off to the west, there’s a warm pocket working its eastward from the Pacific Warm Pool. It will be interesting to watch what happens…in extremely slow motion. I’ll have to check back in a month or so.

The Smith and Reynolds SST Posts DOES NOT LIST ALL SST POSTS. I stopped using ERSST.v2 data for SST when NOAA deleted it from NOMADS early in 2009.

Please use the search feature in the upper left-hand corner of the page for posts on specific subjects.

NOTE: I’ve discovered that some of the links to older posts provide blank pages. While it’s possible to access that post by scrolling through the history, that’s time consuming. There’s a quick fix for the problem, so if you run into an absent post, please advise me. Thanks.
